My name is Emidio “Mimi” Soltysik, and I am running for California’s 62nd State Assembly District (Del Aire, El Segundo, Gardena, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lennox, Venice, Westchester, Marina del Rey, West Athens, Westmont) in 2014.

A few quick things I need to share about myself. I am the Male Co-Chair of the Socialist Party USA and am the State Chair of the Socialist Party USA in California. I graduated summa cum laude from Troy University with a degree in political science and am currently enrolled in an MPA program at Cal-State Northridge. I’ve been a community organizer in Los Angeles for the better part of a decade, helping to plan and carry out bicycle drives for children, clothing drives for victims of human trafficking, and free educational programs.  I love my family, my cats, my friends, and loud music. I also like to laugh. A lot.

You’ll be hearing from many of my socialist friends throughout this campaign. They are your neighbors, your co-workers, your fellow students. I think that you’ll find that their words of compassion, care, and peace are both sensible and inspiring.

We aren’t the super-wealthy. We aren’t the elite. We aren’t the privileged. We are the workers. We are the students. We are the mothers, the fathers, the struggling masses. We are the people! Join us in the fight for democracy, equality, justice, and peace!
